Once Upon A Time...

Bailey asked me if she could read the coupon that came with my receipt at Target. Of course I said yes and she said, "Once upon a time there were some shirts ..." To which I busted out into laughter. Lol. So sweet!

Lake Wedowee

We went to Lake Wedowee in Alabama with the Ballard Family this weekend.  We all had a great time!  None of us really ever left the house and we packed all the food we needed and brought it with us.  It was some super good family time.  I think the kids liked swimming and fishing the best.  The fishing was super good, which is important with impatient little children.  They still had to sit and wait a little, but not too bad.  Jackson even learned how to cast this trip!

Microwave Quesadilla

Sounds crazy right?!?! But it is quick and super yummy!  Way better than it sounds.  My sister in law made me one on vacation this summer and I have had one for lunch almost everyday since ;)  All you do is put down cheese on one side, add toppings...I just use what I happen to have, which most the time is at least cheese and baby spinach, green peppers, tomatoes, ect.  Then just top it with cheese, fold it and put it in the microwave for about 1 1/2 minutes.  Volia...a yummy lunch!!

Yuuuummmmm

I made homemade  Slow Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup tonight and it was soooooooo good!  I was also super easy :) I found it off pinterest of course and thought I would share!
 Ingredients:
 1lb chicken breast, trimmed
15oz can sweet whole corn kernels, drained
15oz can diced tomatoes, drained
5C chicken stock
3/4C onion, chopped
3/4C green pepper, chopped
1 serrano pepper, minced (I found this at Kroger, I never heard of it before)
2 cloves garlic, minced
 1/4 tsp chili powder
1 1/2 tsp salt, divided
1 tsp ground pepper, divide
Mexican cheese to sprinkle on top
Sour cream (I didn't add this b/c I didn't think of it, but I bet it would be good!)

All I did was put everything in a crock-pot except chicken and stir, then I added chicken and set my crock-pot.  You just want it long enough for the chicken to fall apart.  It will look very thin until you add the cheese to your bowl, wow...I am already looking forward to tomorrows left overs!

Free Time

Well, of course I have been missing the kids, buuuuut.... I have really been enjoying the almost 7hours of free time I now have! I still have yet to just sit down and watch TV, but that is on my list to do ;) John came home today for lunch and caught me off guard and took this picture of me. We enjoyed a quiet lunch together (don't forget we now live a short 5-8 min from his work).  Today I cut the grass, went grocery shopping, enjoyed a quiet lunch with my husband, and showered before having to get the kids. It was great :)

First Day of School

The kids had their first day of school today, and a new school for both of them.  They were both pretty excited when they woke up :) This is Bailey's first year. She woke up in the middle of the night crying because she really wanted to put on her dress I made her.  Lord, she hardly ever wants to wear shorts or pants these days.
Jackson is starting 4 year old pre-k and going 4 days a week and Bailey is starting 2 year old preschool and going 2 days a week.
When I picked them up the kids had pretty good things to say about school.  Bailey told me she played on the playground and colored.  Jackson told me he wrote his name, was WAY to hot on the playground, and said he forgot to make a friend.  lol.
Then, after we ran a few errands Bailey informed me she was "mean at school". When I asked her why she said that she didn't want to eat her yogurt and she wanted to go home!  Well, this was a far cry from what she had told me an hour earlier.  Good news is that no notes were sent home today, whew!  I pray that I never get one! We finished Jackson's homework and I treated the kids to ice cream :)

Lots of Labor Day fun

Nana and Opa visited us at our new house and we had a great time!  We even took the kids down to a braves game and the kids had the best time.
 We also celebrated Nana's birthday!
