Easter 2013

To say we had a busy weekend is an understatement! HA!  We got new carpet on Friday-short story is that I have lived with UGLY green carpet for 8 loooong years!  The first thing I said when we saw the house on the market was, "well, that carpet has GOT TO GO!"...fast forward 8 years and it's just left.  John tilled the yard in hopes to have grass out front instead of moss...fingers crossed.  Jackson, sweet boy, put his had on the muffler of the tiller and got a burn on his palm, but he is a trooper and didn't let that stop him from all the Easter fun!!  I was in charge of the Easter Egg hunt this year at church, and I won't bore you with details, but it just went ok...next year will be better!

It looks like John is giving him strategy ;)  Liam came to hunt too!
Not sure who got the bright idea to stuff the eggs with bouncy balls....but yep, that is a bouncy ball.  Ugh...only Bailey ;)

And he's off....

Sweet BFF hugs :)

Grandma and Pop Pop came to our hunt and then brought eggs for the kids to dye.  They LOVED it!  Then we went out to eat for Grandma's b-day.

The Easter Bunny seemed to be a hit this year :)

On Easter Sunday Mimi, Diddy, and Grandmother came out and brought a LOT of yummy food with them! We had a great time and are soooo thankful they made the trip out!

Here is Bailey in her big girl bed!!  AND my new carpet!!  Look how tiny she looks in that bed! HA!  That was our old bed before we got our king (I just painted it white).  And before that it was Nana and Opa's, so they definitely got their money's worth out of it! hahaha

Above is a LOT of hard work.  So thankful we had a bunch of neighbors stop over to help us, we are so lucky!  Fingers crossed it grows!!

And that is the latest boy toy.  A new remote control boat.  John is such a good daddy, words can't describe.

Repurposing

I got this jacket at Walmart for $9 a few weeks ago knowing that I would have to do something about those hearts.  Just was not a fan of them ;)  I remembered today about this bubble I had saved that had Bailey's initials on it.  It was one of my very favorites from last summer and sadly it got holes in the bottom, so I didn't feel so bad cutting it up.  I typically don't initial much for Bailey b/c I really like to pass things down to people.  Anyways here is how it went...

Before pics

Here is the bubble I cut her initials from (oh my GOODNESS how she has GROWN!! And look at how short her hair was!)
And her is the after pics...

I am pretty happy with how it turned out.  All I did was cut the initials out of the bubble (using a cup as my circle guide) and then I put Fray Check (it does exactly what the name says, helps fabric from fraying...life long sewers sware by it!) around the edge.  After the Fray Check dried I pinned it on and sewed it!  All of this took less than 30 min!
**So glad my sis-in-law Amy told me to save things with initials and she did something similar to this, but with a t-shirt for my niece :)

Uncle Steven's Birthday!!

While we went to the shower Pop Pop and Grandma watched the kids for us.  We spent the night there and then celebrated my brothers birthday the next day.  I love the picture above.  So sweet of all of them and look at how proud Jackson is! They had just helped Pop finish fixing their rental houses mailbox.  That was also the house I lived in before my Mom married Pop :)

Making Uncle Stephen's cake!

So cute!!!

So excited for Stephen, he has a lot going for him right now and I know this year is going to be a good one!

Stella Grace's Shower

All of the "wives" gave Brooke and Russ a shower for their new addition Stella Grace.  It has been a long road for them and this moment and we could not be happier.  Brooke was beautiful and glowing :) Our whole group always has the best times together and we wish we could do it more often.

Above is Sloane toasting to the fact that we didn't have any babies at the baby shower! LOL  AMEN to that!!!!  It was a nice adult evening :)

The boys with their pink mustaches :)

And here are some of the wives and Brooke's close friends.

Murphy, NC

My Dad's cousin Arleen (and I guess she would be my 2nd cousin) and her husband Wayne invited us a lot of times over the last 2 years to visit them in Murphy.  We FINALLY were able to set a date and which was last weekend. They have about 150 acres up there and the most beautiful property I have ever seen!  We had the BEST weekend, I will never forget all the breathtaking views and all the fun we had.
The picture above is of their beautiful house.

They even had a playground and a fire truck for the kids to play on!

Jackson and Bailey thought this was the coolest lawnmower they had ever seen!

John and Wayne enjoying the view of the property, we woke up to snow!!

View from outside our room.

The kids had a perfect place to ride while we toured the whole property.  We rode all over their mountains and had so much fun!  I still can't believe that the Gators and 4 wheelers can make it up such steep mountains.

Jackson getting Opa with a snowball!!

Breathtaking views!

That is what John and I rode!

John took Jackson out by himself when it was snowing like crazy.  It was just so cool to watch.

This is Duke, he is the sweetest dog!!  We loved him, he was just like Cooper!  He ran along side us the entire day while we drove all over the mountain.  He is such a good doggie!

Wayne even let us shoot some of his guns he has.  That was the first time I ever shot anything besides a shotgun while skeet shooting.  It was very scary, but I am glad I tried :)
